Our family is excited to welcome 2 new baby girls into the family. Our daughter gave birth to lovely twin sisters and we are so excited at the joy and laughter we know they will bring to the family. The hype now is decorating the nursery.

Here's a few pointers on what to consider when decorating a nursery:

• Hosting a baby shower with a theme color for presents is a good way to start off 
• Choose a theme color that works with the gender of your baby (if you know the sex)
• Leave room for growth
• Start picking up some memorabilia from when your baby is born and make room for it in their room.
• Do not use too much lighting
• Use the best quality bedding you can afford
• Find a centerpiece and have it hang right on top of the court bed.
• Create a safe environment for your new born bundle of joy.
• Have a work area for ironing, changing diapers etc.

A beautiful small centre piece carpet has the ability to change the atmosphere of your room, so you need to choose and choose wisely. The common areas for a small rug are the Lounge, Master Bedroom and the Dinning room. Before purchasing a rug, you need to consider a few things:

1. The Style



Every room in your house can have a different style. It could be Modern, or Vintage or a mixture of both. You could even pick up a few styles from different countries and have a mixture of, for example Paris and New York. You therefore need to decide what you want out of your room.

2. The wall Colors



The wall colors pretty much dictate how you will work around the rug color. In previous years you had to make sure that both has a correlation but in these times, you can even be bold and just pair a bold contrasting rug to a wall that many would never pair. This shows personal style, a daring spirit and will definately be a conversation starter with new guests in your house.

3. The size



You want to make sure that your rug choice and rug size works well with your lounge size. If you have a small space to work with, consider also getting a smaller rug. You do not want your rug to almost look like a full fitted carpet.

4. The Rug Color



If you have small kids, don't work with a color that will make your weekends busy because you have to spring clean every other weekend. Also consider the soil color of the place you live. If you have dark soils, rather go for something that will take you less time to clean and that will not show dirt easily.

5. Rug Texture



You want something that looks good and feels good too. On a lazy day as you watch Television, you want to be able to take off your shoes and rub your feet on your rub and feel the soothing texture remind you that you are at home. Buy something of good quality. Invest in 'quality' and you will not have to rug-shop every single month.

6. Consider a Non-stick pad



If you have slippery floor, consider getting a non-stick pad. You want you living areas to not be hazardous for living especially if you have kids around.

Remember to stay true to you and to your personal style as you choose what rug works for you. Home is a place where you need to express yourself and what you are all about, so that when people come in they can instantly pick up your vibe.
